The Year of the River 2019

What?   A yearlong series of sharing celebrations/exploration throughout the Ouachita River Valley from Jonesville to Camden

Who?  Communities in the Ouachita Valley will demonstrate/share economic and cultural impact of the River and Steam boating by showcasing:

The Past -      Paleontology to Paper Mills

The Present - Tugboats & Tourism

The Future-   Viable Valley????

 

When? Throughout 2019 "The Year of the River"

 

Costs? Each Project from a book review to a theatrical production to a canoe tour or family road trip would be self-funded.

 

Impact? Year of the River -2019 will increase the Ouachita River Valley Citizens' Knowledge and Appreciation of the River's Role in the Growth and Prosperity of their Communities' Past-Present-Future.

 

How?  Plan ways you can explore/celebrate/share the YOR-2019 with your family, church, school, service clubs, and community performing arts group.

CHRISTMAS ON THE RIVER – CELEBRATIONS ACROSS LOUISIANA

EVERYBODY CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS, BUT IN LOUISIANA, CHRISTMAS IS A COLORFUL, DIVERSE AND UNIQUE CELEBRATION.  UP AND DOWN THE HIGHWAYS AND BYWAYS OF OUR STATE, THE PEOPLE OF OUR STATE GATHER AROUND RIVERS, BAYOUS AND LAKES TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS IN MANY CULTURAL WAYS WITH WONDERFUL VARIETY.  OUR 2018 COTTONLAND CHRISTMAS PRESENTATION WILL HIGHLIGHT THE DIVERSITY OF OUR STATE AS WE TRAVEL UP THE RIVERS OF OUR STATE CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS LOUISIANA-STYLE.

 

RETURNING TO A TRADITION STARTED YEARS AGO BY STRAUSS, WE CELEBRATE THE CHRISTMAS SEASON IN “COTTONLAND CHRISTMAS” FEATURING AREA SOLOISTS, ENSEMBLES, AND DANCE GROUPS, ALL SHARING THE JOYS OF THE SEASON.  COME GET IN THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS!
